The Saturday after Thanksgiving Bret, Cort and I set out to cut down our Christmas tree. It turned into quite the adventure. We tried to go up Spanish Fork Canyon and take Sheepcreek to Strawberry. However when we got to the top of the road the gate was closed. We then turned around and drove all the way back down Spanish Fork canyon and headed up Provo Canyon.
We found the perfect spot to look for a tree, and Bret set off down the path with the chainsaw. I got to help Cort along. This was a chore because at first he wanted to walk, but the snow was deep, and it is hard for a two year old to move in snow clothes. After falling down several times, mom carried him. That was difficult as well since our snow clothes were slippery and he kept slipping. It may have been easier if he would have held still, but he was so excited about the snow and trees, and kept asking to eat the snow.
We finally caught up with Bret, and found a tree. However when we got back to the car we had forgot to bring the ties. We had to stick the tree in the car, and tie the back door closed with a pair of Bret's sweat pants. On our way back down the canyon a chucker flew into our windshield and cracked it. It was definitely a memorable experience, but Cort had a blast so it was worth all of the trouble.
Due to the BYU/ Utah game being that afternoon we waited till Sunday to put it up. Cort was SO excited that he had his own Christmas tree, and had a blast decorating it.
